Not a Morning Person? Read this to take charge of your day.

I know some people are just NOT Morning People! ESPECIALLY not before their Coffee!!!

Fortunately I am not one of those people. I AM a morning person. Hooray!

I love mornings, I get SO much more done in the morning than in the afternoon, I always say you could get me up at 3am and I would be fine but don’t get me out past 8 😉

There are a few things you can do to make your mornings more bearable if you find that you wake up wishing that you didn’t or if you’re a a bit of a grump before your third cup of coffee!

1. FOLLOW YOUR BODY’S NATURAL SLEEP RHYTHM

This means trying to go to bed and wake up at the same times every day. This helps set your body clock. Pick a time you feel tired so that you’re not tossing and turning. If you’re getting enough sleep you should wake up naturally, if you’re setting a 101 alarms to get up in the morning you may need an earlier bed time. Avoid sleeping in and napping for more than 15-20 minutes, as this can throw out your body clock. Don’t be hitting that Snooze button either, your body starts preparing for the day the second you wake up, by snoozing for an extra 5 minutes it throws things out of whack!

2. DRINK A GLASS OF WATER WHEN YOU WAKE UP

You can become dehydrated from being asleep. Our bodies are made up of a LOT of water so it is easy to become dehydrated if you’re not paying attention.Symptoms of dehydration include headache, dizziness, feeling light-headed, sleepy and tired. Have a glass of water before the coffee. Your body will thank you, it will wake you up and help get rid of the fogginess.

3. STRETCH

A good stretch does wonders to wake you up! Walk around stretch while your breakfast is cooking, wake up those muscles, stimulate blood flow and lubricate those joints that might be a bit stiff from a night’s sleep.

4. TELL YOURSELF LIFE IS GOOD

Why? Because is it. Life is awesome!

Mindset is everything. If you wake up and start the day in a shitty mood you will have a shitty day.

If you wake up and say to yourself a few positive things your day will run a lot smoother and you will find you wont get as irritable or frustrated when something doesn’t work out.

Start by telling yourself something good that happened yesterday, something you are grateful for and something you are looking forward to today.

5. EXERCISE!

C’mon you had to know this one was coming!

This will wake you up 10 x better than a coffee! You will be more awake throughout the day, be more productive and then you don’t have to drag yourself out at night after work when you’re already tired from the day! Exercise also releases those endorphins so you will feel great after.

I know, sometimes things don’t go to plan and we can’t do everything everyday BUT it is a great idea to try and do all of the above everyday unless you are unwell. The days where you feel least like doing it are the days you need to do it!
